Biden jokes about being 'trapped' as he praises Hillary Clinton after Jill forces him to give speech
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden was all praises for the Clintons, especially Hillary Clinton, as he took the stage Monday evening, September 23, at the Clinton Global Initiative’s summit.
The POTUS was honored with the 2024 Clinton Global Citizen Award by former commander-in-chief Bill Clinton for his “uncommon decency and goodness and grace”, as per AP News.
Though he was not scheduled to give a speech during the event, he proceeded to give one after being asked by his wife and first lady Jill Biden, The New York Post reported.
Joe Biden thanks Hillary Clinton for all her support
Joe Biden said, “This is what you call being trapped,” as he went on to thank the former first family.
He continued, “Hillary, I want to thank you — and I maybe shouldn’t do this publicly — but thank you personally for the way you have helped me, the way you’ve spoken up for me with such passion.”
“I can’t tell you — you can ask Jill. Anyway, I love you,” the 81-year-old politician added.
This came after the Clintons supported Biden after his disastrous performance at the June 27 presidential debate.
Hillary had said Biden ‘cares’ about the people of America
The commander-in-chief faced heavy criticism at the time, not only from his critics but also from his allies and party members.
But Hillary backed him and shared a tweet, claiming, “The choice in this election remains very simple. It's a choice between someone who cares about you—your rights, your prospects, your future—versus someone who's only in it for himself. I'll be voting Biden.”

Also, before the debate, the former secretary of state wrote an op-ed for The New York Times, bashing Donald Trump.
Hillary called out Trump for his bullying
She asserted, “I am the only person to have debated both men (Mr. Trump in 2016 and, in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary race, Mr. Biden). It is a waste of time to try to refute Mr. Trump’s arguments like in a normal debate. It’s nearly impossible to identify what his arguments even are.”
“He starts with nonsense and then digresses into blather. This has gotten only worse in the years since we debated,” the 76-year-old mentioned as she added, “He interrupts and bullies — he even stalked me around the stage at one point — because he wants to appear dominant and throw his opponent off balance.”
Hillary, however, advised Biden, “These ploys will fall flat if Mr. Biden is as direct and forceful as he was when engaging Republican hecklers at the State of the Union address in March. The president also has facts and truth on his side.”
