WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump warned that the Democratic Party itself has been “infiltrated” by what he called communism, expanding his attacks beyond individual progressive candidates.

Trump said he once described the movement as socialism but now considers it “largely communism” and “very dangerous for our country.”

Fox News shared an excerpt from Trump’s interview on Saturday, August 29, ahead of its scheduled airing on Sunday.

Trump used the broader language while describing what he sees as a shift inside the Democratic Party, saying, “We have communists. We have a party that have communists.”

He then said the party had been “infiltrated by bad thought, by bad policy.”

“I used to talk about socialism, but this isn't socialism,” Trump said. “This is largely communism. This is very dangerous for our country.”

Trump also qualified the warning by saying, “I'm not saying good guy, bad guy. I'm just saying this is big, big trouble for our country. Likewise, many others.”

The remarks broaden a line of attack Trump has recently directed at progressive Democratic candidates.

On August 10, during an Oval Office event, he advised Republican candidates for November’s midterm elections while invoking both communism and ji*****m.

“A friend of mine called up. He said, ‘You know, really, you should use the word ji*****t because that’s what’s happening,’” Trump recalled. “We have ji****s being elected all over the place. We have this whether it’s communism, j*****m,” as per MS NOW.

Trump did not identify the candidates he meant at the time.

His remarks came as he had increasingly characterized far-left Democratic primary winners as anti-American, particularly Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Senate primary winner in Michigan.

After El-Sayed won his primary on August 5, Trump called him a “communist loser who hates Jews and Israel,” a characterization El-Sayed has denied, as per the outlet.

Abdul El-Sayed has challenged Trump’s attacks

El-Sayed has criticized the use of his full name, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, by Trump, former Rep Mike Rogers and the National Republican Senatorial Committee in an advertisement.

He characterized it as more subtle Is********ia.

“We always knew they were going to go here,” El-Sayed said on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’. “Notice how they chose to use my full name in echoes to exactly what they did against President Obama.”

El-Sayed has also faced criticism over his opposition to military aid to Israel.

On MS NOW’s ‘Morning Joe’, he said, “Our money should be spent here rather than sent in the form of bombs or tanks to foreign governments, particularly when they’re doing the most he***us things with them, as is the case with the government of Israel.”

Trump’s treatment of another progressive Democrat, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, was different.

Last year, after Rep Elise Stefanik called Mamdani a “ji*****t” during her gubernatorial campaign, Trump rejected that characterization, saying, “I met with a man who’s a very rational person.”
