Brad Pitt reveals why he’s more open about sharing his struggles, says ‘we can’t do it alone’
FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE: Brad Pitt is not holding back when it comes to opening up about his emotional and mental struggles. In a recent interview, the 'F1' actor explained why he wants to share his thoughts and be more open about what he has experienced.
Pitt, 62, stepped out in Franklin on Wednesday, September 16, for the premiere of his new survival movie, 'Heart of the Beast'.

During his red carpet interview with Extra, Pitt opened up about why he has been more willing to discuss his “ups and downs” in recent weeks. “What else are we here for? You know, other than (to)connect and take care of each other and, like, make each other better. Like, why else are we here?” Pitt said.

“The human struggle is real, you know? It’s a challenge and it’s an obstacle course and we need each other. We can’t do it alone. At this point in my life, man, I just care less about any of it other (than) about, like, finding some truths and finding some stories that mean something to me and that I know I can elevate,” he added. “Otherwise, I’ll stay on the couch.”
Brad Pitt opens up about a difficult period in his life
Pitt reflected on one of the most difficult periods of his life during a lengthy interview with Esquire, where he opened up about the emotional struggles he faced. When asked whether the difficult period was connected to his family, Pitt kept his response brief, saying, “Family stuff. We could leave it at that.”
“I thought, oh, OK, now I understand. I understand in the sense that it’s just relief. It’s just looking for relief from the pain. But I also think we have incredible survival instincts. And for me, that immediately kicked in, but it was just... ”
“Yeah. Like, listen: This ain’t easy,” he added. “And you’re talking to a guy who won the lottery.” Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been divorced for about two years, after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. Their divorce was officially finalized in 2024 following years of legal disputes.
The former couple have six children together: Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox and Vivienne. The majority of their children have since filed petitions seeking to remove 'Pitt' from their last names.
