CORRENS, FRANCE: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie once shared Chateau Miraval as a dream French estate, but the property recently made news again under dramatic circumstances. 

Placed in the sunny countryside of southern France, this huge property is both a successful wine business and a special place connected to the history of the former couple. While the estate has not suffered reported major damage, the growing fire emergency has raised fresh concerns for one of Provence's most famous vineyards.

Wildfires put Chateau Miraval under the spotlight once again

Several images showed thick smoke drifting near Chateau Miraval's vineyards and surrounding countryside, although firefighters have so far managed to prevent the flames from reaching the historic estate. 

Emergency crews have been battling blazes across southeastern France as extreme heat, dry vegetation and strong winds fuel rapidly spreading fires. Authorities continue to monitor the area closely while residents in nearby communities remain on alert.

Miraval has become one of the region's most recognizable landmarks over the past decade. The estate is known not only for its award-winning rose wines but also for its recording studio and majestic grounds, where Pitt and Jolie married in 2014. Despite the current danger, reports indicate the vineyards and main residence remain intact.

The wildfire threat has also drawn renewed attention to neighboring celebrity properties. George and Amal Clooney recently evacuated their nearby home as officials responded to the expanding fires across Provence.

The Hollywood stars originally purchased the $67 million French property together in 2008, holding equal shares in the business venture, and later exchanged vows on its chapel grounds in 2014. However, following their high-profile split in 2016, the property turned into a fiercely contested asset.

The conflict escalated dramatically in 2021 when Jolie sold her 50 percent stake in Miraval to Tenute del Mondo, the wine subsidiary of the Stoli Group. Pitt filed a lawsuit shortly after, alleging that the former couple had a binding verbal agreement preventing either party from selling their share without mutual authorization. 

He argued that the unapproved sale damaged the brand's reputation and constituted an aggressive corporate takeover attempt. Conversely, Jolie’s legal team disputed the existence of such a pact.
