Carrie Underwood honors Dolly Parton in custom 'DP' jacket during emotional tribute
LENOX, MASSACHUSETTS: Carrie Underwood gave a heartfelt tribute to Dolly Parton during her August 30 show at the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox. The singer remembered Parton's life and legacy as she honored the legendary country star onstage.
The tribute was also reflected in Underwood's outfit. She wore a custom-made leather jacket featuring Parton's initials, 'DP', before speaking about the late singer's influence and asking the audience to light up the venue in her honor.

Underwood opted for a 'DP' initial leather jacket and a multicolored top, which she paired with baggy pants. On stage, Underwood said, “I feel like [her] knowledge and formal love ought not just to be a huge influence to so many of us, but [she was] just one of the nicest people I have ever met on this planet."
"It was such a shock. I feel like just to the whole world, you can feel the ripples, just like time just stood still. But she’s just one of [those people] that transcends all space and time.” “And I feel like she’s just up there with the biggest smile on her face, up until the very last minute."
Underwood and Parton worked together a couple of times over the years, including sharing the stage at the 2019 CMA Awards.

“And that’s something that I feel like we can all learn from. She is gone, but she is not forgotten. I know where she is because I know how much she loves Jesus.”
Underwood then said she knew the perfect track that fit the moment. She continued, “We all have somebody in our lives that is no longer with us, but we know we will see them again.”
Underwood then pointed at the audience and asked them to light up the venue in honor of Parton.
“Get your phone out, let there be light. She is always with us. As long as she is in here,” Underwood said, pointing to her heart, “she is in here,” she added, pointing at her head.

Dolly Parton dies at 80 as stars pay tribute to country music legend
Parton passed away on August 25, at the age of 80, following a brief battle with cancer. She received treatment at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Parton's family held a private funeral service in Nashville, in accordance with her wishes. The family also asked fans to honor her memory by donating to her childhood literacy program, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, instead of sending flowers.
Following her death, celebrities from across the entertainment industry paid tribute to the beloved country icon. Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles, Sandra Bullock and several other A-listers remembered Parton.
