Charithra Chandran and Saja Kilani wear Artists4Ceasefire pin at 2026 Oscars amid US-Iran war
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: At the 2026 Oscars, Artists4Ceasefire made a statement with its new pin, which several celebrities were seen wearing on the red carpet. The tradition of using the Oscars to raise awareness of global issues continues, and this year the focus was on the US-Israel conflict with Iran.
The pin calls for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and a “just and lasting peace” between Palestinians and Israelis, a cause the organization has been promoting since late 2023. Artists4Ceasefire distributed the pins during the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre, giving stars a chance to show their support for peace.

Speaking to Deadline, Kilani said, "The idea of children and people dying is not something that I can accept or tolerate. This pin is a collaboration with an artist, Shepard Fairey, it’s Artists4Ceasefire, and we’re demanding a permanent ceasefire." She features in the Best International Feature Film nominee 'The Voice of Hind Rajab'.

"There is no ceasefire happening right now, there are bombings happening to this day, destruction, displacements all over the world in Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Venezuela,” said Amer Hlehel, adding that the moment was bittersweet as fellow cast member Motaz Malhees was unable to attend the ceremony.
What the Artists4Ceasefire pin represents
The Artists4Ceasefire pin, created by Shepard Fairey, features symbolic imagery meant to highlight unity and peace. The design shows a dove carrying a lotus flower, while the flower’s stem appears as barbed wire, as per the variety.
The organization also points to a heart placed above the flower in the design. It says the symbol emphasizes the importance of compassion to lead with love while supporting freedom and dignity for communities across the world.
Fairey said the artwork was meant to communicate a broader message about humanity and solidarity. He explained that “humanity and justice are not privileges reserved for some of us; they belong to all people, without exception.”
He added that art can remind people that before “borders and boundaries, we are all citizens of this planet first.” Fairey also said he hopes the image reflects the strength of solidarity and shows that when people come together, “the seeds of compassion, dignity and freedom can break through.”
