NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Conservative nonprofit organization Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk claimed former President and presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump's obsession with the results of 2020 was not helpful for the Republican Party in the run-up to the general elections in November.

Kirk made the comments during an interview with former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly on his show, 'No Spin News,' on Monday, June 24, reported Mediaite. The previous presidential election had been extremely upsetting for Trump, who not only lost the White House to incumbent Joe Biden but is also accused of inciting an insurrection to overturn the results of the election. His attempts over the latter have resulted in two indictments – one state and one federal - that he is currently fighting.

Earlier in June, ABC host George Stephanopoulos told CNN, “Who won the last election?” would be the most important question to ask Trump during the first presidential debate, which the latter network is scheduled to host on Thursday, June 27.

According to network anchor Chris Wallace, there was “zero chance” that Trump would not bring up the results of the 2020 election himself during the debate.

Charlie Kirk's take on Donald Trump's 2020 election obsession

O’Reilly asked Kirk on Monday, "I think that Trump’s obsession with 2020 still continues to hurt him in this election. Am I wrong?”

“First, I’ll say that there’s a season for all things, and when it was really a, let’s just say a recent wound, I think it was helpful to talk about ways we could’ve secured the election better and things we could’ve done better in 2020," responded the right-wing activist.

“I will say though, in this season we’re in right now, talking about 2020 does not do us any good, so I’m in full agreement," he continued. "For example, I think a trap question that might be thrown at Donald Trump this debate will be if Jake Tapper asks Donald Trump, ‘Do you accept the 2020 election results?'”

"I think how he navigates that question is important," he concluded.

Internet trolls Trump while after Charlie Kirk's comments

Social media users mocked the former President while responding to Kirk's observations about his obsession with 2020 election results on the Mediaite website.

"Trump hasn’t been able to stop talking about the 2020 election since he tried to overthrow it. If gets asked about it, MAGAts are going to whine that CNN was 'biased,'" wrote a person.

"Trump is a narcissistic sociopath and can never admit he lost or was wrong. He is mentally ill and it is time magats realized that and move on," stated another.

"Donald lost by 6 Million Votes in 2020------and is still sitting in Florida Complaining Nonstop about an Election he Lost 4 Years ago," chided a third.

"It’s considered a trap question to ask the delusional idiot about his 2020 defeat by Joe. That’s where the Stupid Party is at," jibed a fourth.

"A trap question? Asking if he acknowledges reality. These clowns can’t even admit it’s bullshit, just that it’s old bullshit," echoed a fifth.
