LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: According to reports, music legend Cher filed for conservatorship of her 47-year-old son Elijah Blue Allman, which his estranged wife Marieangela King deemed 'deeply disturbing'.

Musician Marieangela attacked Cher, 77, in a recent statement to Page Six, alleging that she had 'historically excluded' her from decisions about Elijah's care.

As per Radar Online, Cher filed a petition to be Elijah's sole conservator, claiming that Marieangela was 'not supportive of Elijah’s recovery' and that she 'actively works to keep Elijah from getting clean and sober or receiving mental health treatment that he desperately needs.'

Marieangela King blasted Cher over 'not supportive of Elijah's recovery' accusations

In an exclusive interview with Page Six, Marieangela claimed that Cher and her family "historically excluded" her from decisions about Elijah's care.

Slamming the singer over the accusations, Marieangela told the outlet: "I have always been a champion for the sober community and for Elijah’s sobriety. … What I am not ok with are establishments that exclude me (his wife) from being part of Elijah’s treatment and hopeful recovery."

The 36-year-old further claimed that Cher allegedly "kidnapped" Elijah to get him into rehab and kept him in a "locked cage" instead of a "legitimate, ethically operated" facility in Mexico.

"I am not ok with pop-up, makeshift, unethical scam rehabs which take full advantage of families in desperate situations and seek to fraudulently exploit insurance companies for services not rendered," Marieangela added.

Marieangela further stated that she did not approve of Elijah "being coerced" into "participating in an alternative medicine regimen" in October, which left him compelled to sleep in "a locked cage with six other individuals."

Marieangela King denied ever enabling Elijah Blue Allman's substance abuse

Elijah Blue is the son of Cher and late rock icon Gregg Allman, who died in May 2017 at the age of 69.

Cher's estranged daughter-in-law, also known as Queeny King, further asserted that she has never "suffered from any form of substance abuse, mental health or addiction issues" and has denied ever having "enabled" Elijah's substance abuse.

Marieangela's attorney stated that she preferred to deal with Elijah's abuse issues behind closed doors, but that she felt ignored—an alleged trend in her ten-year marriage to the singer's son.

The representative told the outlet, "And despite a clear pattern of being habitually bulldozed over and repeatedly undermined, a pattern that has existed throughout her 10-year marriage, Ms. King wholly rejects any inference that she is incapable of caring for her husband or making sound medical and/or financial decisions on his behalf."

Marieangela labeled the conservatorship as "deeply disturbing" and said that although she had assumed Cher would value her years of silence regarding Elijah's issues, "her silence was wrongly perceived as weakness," per her representative.

Cher sought in court to put son Elijah under conservatorship

In November 2021, Elijah filed for divorce, but things became ugly and drawn out, with Marieangela accusing Cher of preventing her from contacting Elijah.

Cher filed court documents in late December asking to place Elijah under conservatorship, stating he suffers from mental and physical health problems, is dependent on drugs, and is unable to manage his finances.

The 'If I Could Turn Back Time' singer argued in her application to become her son's conservator that Marieangela's drug addiction prevents him from taking adequate care of himself or his finances.

Cher, who is also Chaz Bono's mother, said that Elijah's estranged wife Marieangela has harmed him and is preventing him from getting the drug and mental health treatment he requires.

She told the court that Elijah's siblings had given their approval for her to take on the role of sole conservator and that she had not discussed the conservatorship with him because of his "current mental and physical health issues."

Marieangela, whom Cher claimed in court documents is 'estranged' from Elijah, is the subject of an ongoing divorce.

According to Cher's statements in court documents, Mariangela has not been "supportive of Elijah's recovery and ... actively works to keep Elijah from getting clean and sober or receiving mental health treatment that he desperately needs," per Daily Mail.

Following their divorce, Cher stated that Marieangela "is not entitled to appointment as conservator of Elijah's estate unless the court finds, by clear and convincing evidence, that such appointment would be in Elijah's best interest."

Giving Marieangela any authority over the conservatorship, according to Cher, "would be unsafe for Elijah and his estate" because "it would result in the immediate loss or dissipation of Elijah's assets for self-destructive purposes."
