NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller, on Wednesday, October 15, told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that Democrat Illinois Gov JB Pritzker is opposing President Donald Trump’s plans to send the National Guard to Chicago because "to keep murderers murdering" and claimed that "Chicago is more dangerous than Baghdad."

While discussing the city’s ongoing crime crisis, Hannity said President Donald Trump is “trying to keep innocent Americans safe and secure” despite the governor’s failures, referring to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Democrat Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who both strongly opposed Trump’s move to send the National Guard to the city.

Responding to this, Miller said, “Well, I mean, he’s a fool, and he’s a moron, but, also, most importantly, Sean, he hates America,” Miller said. “And let’s just be honest about it. You can’t love your country and then fight President Trump to keep murderers murdering. Just think about that for a second. President Trump is saying, ‘Let us work with you, with the FBI, with ICE, with ATF, with DEA, with the National Guard, to stop the murdering in your city.’”

“And Pritzker is saying he wants to protect the murderers, the people that are shooting dozens and dozens of people every single week. Chicago is more dangerous than Baghdad. It’s more dangerous than Mexico City. So shame on Pritzker, and God bless President Trump for fighting for the citizens of this country,” Miller added.

In August, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson held a press conference urging President Donald Trump not to send the National Guard, citing Chicago’s lower crime rates.

According to ABC7 Chicago reports, homicides in the city are down 25% compared to 2023 as of August 16. Over the last 12 months, the city has recorded 474 homicides, while the yearly average between 2021 and 2023 was 722.

On October 10, Pritzker described Chicago’s summer as “amazing” during an appearance on 'Pod Save America,' despite 123 murders that occurred in June, July, and August.

President Trump and Vice President JD Vance have repeatedly criticized Pritzker’s handling of the crisis. During an appearance on ABC’s 'This Week,' Pritzker told host George Stephanopoulos that he’s “not afraid” of Trump’s remarks and dared the president to “come and get” him.

Despite opposition from Democrats to deploying the National Guard to crack down on crime, US Attorney for Washington, DC, Jeanine Pirro said there have been 4,067 arrests and 381 illegal guns seized since President Donald Trump federalized the nation’s capital.

In a post on X, Pirro said that officials discovered “a drug den with 7 illegal guns and 300+ rounds of ammo across from a kindergarten.”
