WASHINGTON, DC: On Tuesday night, Chris Hayes argued that JD Vance's persistent criticisms of childless women have been more than just provocative statements - they've been strategic moves aimed at securing a position within "Donald Trump’s inner circle."

Hayes argued that these attacks are essentially how Vance has achieved his current political standing.

In his segment on Tuesday night, Hayes highlighted that it might seem as though "every day the Harris campaign is unveiling a new clip of JD Vance reiterating the same offensive views about childless women" because, in reality, Vance has consistently promoted these ideas.

"For years, Vance has appeared on lots of right-wing bro podcasts talking about how women’s only purpose on this earth is to give birth to children," Hayes explained. "And that if these women do not fulfill said purpose, they are both miserable and useless."

Hayes also showcased a recently resurfaced clip from 2021 where Vance criticized what he termed "elite culture" for encouraging women to prioritize careers over starting families.

Responding to the clip, Hayes quipped, "It's no accident JD Vance repeated these ideas so often. He was speaking to a specific audience as he auditioned for roles of future Republican Party. And the spot he now holds on the ticket, you know, influential people on the right, Tucker Carlson, those in Donald Trump's inner circle, they agree with Vance. It's how he got where he is now. In fact, we have new reporting that shows just how close Vance has been to the creators and visionary behind the Project 2025 from the very beginning."

In the clip, Vance railed against “women who think that truly the liberationist path is to spend 90 hours a week working in a cubicle at McKinsey instead of starting a family and having children.”

He further argued, “To me, what it is is sort of a value system to replace the fact that they’re all fundamentally atheist or diagnostic. They have no real value system. Their only value system is [to] achieve in a very conventional way.”

Vance concluded, “And so the idea that somehow they’re pursuing racial or gender equity is like the value system that gives their life meaning. A woman who thinks this way has been made into ‘a miserable person.’”

In August, Vance defended his controversial "childless cat ladies" remark from 2021 during an appearance on 'Meet the Press'.

While he expressed regret that his comment was misinterpreted and criticized by figures like the DNC and Kamala Harris, he maintained, “Look, Kristen, I’m going to say things from time to time that people disagree with. I’m a real person. I’m going to make jokes, I’m going to say things sarcastically.”
