Chuck Schumer slams Trump's Iran war press conference: 'He has no plan or vision'
WASHINGTON, DC: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) slammed President Donald Trump over his Monday, March 9, press conference on the US military operation against Iran.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the 75-year-old Democrat wrote, “One word to sum up Trump's press conference: clueless. He can’t articulate a plan or a vision because he has no plan or vision. He can’t even decide whether or not the country is at war.”

He can’t articulate a plan or a vision because he has no plan or vision. He can’t even decide whether or not the country is at war. He’s risking the world economy and the lives of millions on whims and vibes. https://t.co/QZaYCgaCCC
Chuck Schumer says Trump is risking the lives of millions on 'whims and vibes'
“He’s risking the world economy and the lives of millions on whims and vibes,” Schumer added.
The senator's comments came after Trump, while speaking with reporters in Doral, Florida, declared the ongoing Iran war “very complete” before suggesting “it’s the beginning.”
During his 35-minute appearance, the Republican leader was asked by one of the media persons, “You said the war is ‘very complete’. But your defense secretary says, ‘This is just the beginning.’ So which is it?”

“I think you could say both,” Trump replied, before saying, “It’s the beginning of building a new country but they certainly have no navy, they have airforce, they have no anti-aircraft equipment. It’s all been blown up. They have no radar. They have no telecommunications, and they have no leadership. It’s all gone.”
“We could call it a tremendous success right now or we could go further. And we’re going to go further,” he asserted.
Also, during a speech to Republican allies before the press conference, Trump said, “We have won in many ways. But we haven’t won enough.”
Pete Hegseth's comments on the Iran war
Earlier, during his '60 Minutes' interview with CBS News’ Major Garrett, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said that “the Iranian Navy is largely no more. There'll be more boats to be sunk, for sure. So their ability to project any power in that area in a naval sense is being diminished.”

“Again, what I... what I want your viewers to understand is this is only just the beginning,” he asserted.
On Trump’s statement about expecting Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” Hegseth said, “It means we're fightin' to win. It means we set the terms. We'll know when they're not capable of fighting. There'll be a point where they'll have no choice but to do that. Whether they know it or not, they will be combat-ineffective. They will surrender.”
