Chynna Phillips claims she and husband Billy Baldwin live separately as they’re ‘allergic’ to one another
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Chynna Phillips recently shared that she and her husband, Billy Baldwin, have embarked on a new living arrangement, which involves residing separately.
The 56-year-old actress opened up about this change on her YouTube channel, 'California Preachin', describing the shift as something that has brought her contentment.
Chynna Phillips reveals unique marriage ‘arrangement’ with Billy Baldwin
“Billy and I are sort of in this new kind of arrangement that is actually really working for me,” Chynna Phillips told her followers, adding with a laugh, “I don’t know if it’s working for Billster, but I’m very happy with what we’re doing.”
The couple, who have been married since 1995, is experimenting with a “test run” of living apart, with Phillips based in Santa Barbara and Baldwin in Beverly Hills.
While maintaining separate homes, they still meet for “date nights,” therapy, and family dinners with their three children: Jameson, Brooke, and Vance.
Reflecting on her Christian faith, Phillips questioned the traditional view of marriage, saying, “Where in the Bible does it say that I have to live under the same roof 24/7 with my husband?”
She reassured fans that she continues to fulfill her commitments as a wife but feels no obligation to be “subjected to each other’s energy 24/7.”
Chynna Phillips and Billy Baldwin’s ‘marriage allergy’ solution
During the video, Phillips shared a candid FaceTime exchange with Billy Baldwin, which highlighted the playful side of their relationship despite the unconventional arrangement.
“We enjoy each other’s company,” she explained.
“We’re madly in love, we cherish our marriage, we don’t ever want to separate… We just need a little bit of time apart.”

Both admitted that their dynamic had become a bit strained, with Phillips calling it an “allergy to one another,” to which Baldwin wryly responded, “The reality is you have the allergy.”
Fans expressed their concerns over the arrangement, with some suggesting that living separately could harm their marriage.
In response, Phillips commented, “Guys, I’m battling for our marriage, not against it. We have decades of love between us, that’s definitely not going anywhere.”
She likened their relationship to “peanut butter & jelly,” adding, “Marriage is deep waters, and I’m running a tight shipwreck!”
How ‘walking on eggshells’ impacted Chynna Phillips' relationship with Billy Baldwin
Chynna Phillips who first met William Baldwin in 1991, has also openly shared struggles in her marriage in recent months.
She admitted earlier this year that constant bickering left her feeling “on eggshells,” trying to avoid anything that might “trigger” Baldwin’s emotions.
Yet, she realized that walking on eggshells was impacting their intimacy and communication. Reflecting on this, she confessed, “I’m trying to guard his feelings and yet I’m causing more trouble in our marriage by doing that.”
Their marriage has encountered other challenges in the past.
In 2010, Phillips briefly filed for divorce, later withdrawing the petition and revealing she “missed” her connection with Baldwin, as their focus had shifted primarily to their children and careers.
Chynna Phillips asks fans to 'pray' for Billy Baldwin
Chynna Phillips' journey toward deepening her Christian faith has also created friction, particularly as she became more involved in her religion.
Baldwin acknowledged this shift in a joint YouTube appearance, saying he fully supports her spiritual growth. “I still absolutely love you, absolutely adore you, and completely support you,” he assured her, affirming his commitment.
"That's why we go to church together. That's why we pray together. That's why we talk about faith together, That's why I do this stuff for you ... It's because I'm a supportive, loving husband who adores his wife wants to spend the rest of my life with you, no question."

With their new approach, Phillips and Baldwin are exploring whether distance might, indeed, “make the heart grow fonder.”
She ended her video on a lighthearted note, writing, “Maybe we’re nuts, but we think we’re onto something.”
As she continues to open up about this unique chapter, Phillips reportedly invited fans to “keep praying for Billy."
