Cindy Crawford's son and Kaia Gerber's brother Presley Gerber dies at 27

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber’s only son, Presley Gerber, has died. Presley was the couple’s only son and the elder brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber.

Presley died on Sunday, September 20, according to reports.

Presley Gerber died at a rehabilitation facility

TMZ reported that Presley died at a rehabilitation facility, citing records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.  A representative for the family also told the publication that the family is “asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”

An autopsy is pending, according to medical examiner records.

Presley Gerber spoke openly about mental health struggles

Gerber had previously spoken publicly about his struggles with addiction and mental health.

During a 2023 interview, he discussed his experiences with depression and said he hoped sharing what he had learned could help others facing similar difficulties.

“Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do,” he reportedly said.

He also described mental health as an important part of his life and said he wanted to support people dealing with depression or other struggles without judgment.

“[Mental health] is an issue. It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it. That’s really what I want to do: help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is hurting your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment,” he had added at the time.

Gerber added that he had learned from his mistakes and hoped his experiences could help others avoid making similar ones.

In the same interview, Presley had explained that he had learned a lot from his mistakes and “what I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for some other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made.”

Kaia Gerber had also spoken about her brother and the challenges their family faced.

In a 2026 interview with Vogue, Kaia reflected on how difficult experiences within a family can affect everyone.

“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she said, adding that she had come to see herself as “the easy one” and was reluctant to ask for help.

Kaia also described Presley as an “absolute teacher,” saying he had chosen to be open about his experiences rather than hide them.

“There’s only so much you can hide from the world,” she said. “And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”
