LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a heartwarming display of humanity that has captured the hearts of movie fans worldwide, acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve went above and beyond to fulfill the dying wish of one of his devoted followers.

Weeks before the highly-anticipated release of his science-fiction epic 'Dune: Part Two', Villeneuve secretly arranged for a private screening of the film at a palliative care facility in Quebec, Canada, as per The Washington Post.

The extraordinary gesture allowed a terminally ill man in his 50s to experience the cinematic conclusion to Villeneuve's adaptation of the beloved Frank Herbert novel before his passing, providing a poignant and profoundly moving final chapter in the man's life story.

Denis Villeneuve and wife Tanya Lapointe were deeply moved by man's request

The touching tale began with a desperate plea from the Canadian charity L'Avant, which took to social media in hopes of reaching Villeneuve.

"I would like to make some magic for a person at the end of their life," their Facebook post read, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. Josée Gagnon, the driving force behind L'Avant, described it as a "race against the clock" to fulfill the man's dying wish.

Villeneuve and his wife, Tanya Lapointe, an executive producer on 'Dune: Part Two,' were deeply moved by the man's request. "They told me, 'It's precisely for him that we make films,'" Gagnon recounted in a Facebook post, revealing the director's heartfelt reaction.

Denis Villeneuve hoped to fly man to Los Angeles or Montreal for private screening

Initially, Villeneuve hoped to fly the man to Los Angeles or Montreal for a private screening, but his deteriorating health made such travel impossible. Undeterred, the director found a unique solution – sending his assistant with a laptop containing the highly anticipated film to the palliative care facility.

In a room devoid of phones and secured by non-disclosure agreements, the man and his friend witnessed the cinematic masterpiece unfold on Villeneuve's laptop. Despite his frail condition, the man managed to watch nearly half of the film's 2-hour-and-46-minute runtime with French subtitles before succumbing to his illness a few days later.

Gagnon poignantly stated that missing the ending "didn't matter," as "the ending of a film, when you're going to die, it doesn't mean anything. … All this existed for him."
