'An extraordinary loss': Internet grieves as CNN political commentator Alice Stewart dies at 58

WASHINGTON, DC: Alice Stewart, a well-known CNN political commentator and seasoned political adviser, died on Saturday, May 18, at the age of 58, as reported by the media organization. Throughout her career, she played significant roles in numerous GOP presidential campaigns.

Law enforcement officials discovered her body outdoors in the Belle View neighborhood of northern Virginia early in the morning. The cause of death has not yet been determined, but officials do not suspect foul play and believe a medical emergency occurred.

Network CEO Mark Thompson shared the news with the staff in an email that read, "Alice was a very dear friend and colleague to all of us at CNN. A political veteran and an Emmy Award-winning journalist who brought an incomparable spark to CNN’s coverage, known across our bureaus not only for her political savvy but for her unwavering kindness. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn such an extraordinary loss.”

Career of Alice Stewart

Stewart was born March 11, 1966, in Atlanta, Georgia, where she began her career as a local news reporter and producer. She eventually moved to Arkansas to become a news anchor, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

She served as the communications director in then-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee's office and held the same position during his 2008 presidential campaign.

In later years, she continued in similar roles for several other GOP campaigns, including those of former Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Ahead of the 2016 election, Stewart joined CNN as a political commentator and began co-hosting a podcast with fellow CNN commentator Maria Cardona called 'Hot Mics From Left to Right'.

During an interview with Harvard Political Review in 2020, Stewart stated, "My position at CNN is to be a conservative voice yet an independent thinker. I’m not a Kool-Aid drinker; I’m not a never-Trumper, and I didn’t check my common sense and decency at the door when I voted for (Trump).”

Her last television appearance was on Friday, May 17, on the show, 'The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer'.

Internet blames vaccines for the untimely death of Alice Stewart

"So sad, prayers for her and her family," reacted a person to the news of Stewart's death on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).



 

"58 years old. Too young to just drop dead," noted another.

"We know why sadly. The jab of doom. Death," posted an anti-vaxxer.



 

"Vaccine is a killer!" expressed a user.



 

"Wow, that was sad that she died suddenly. RIP," posted a fifth.
