'Too late': JR Majewski trolled for asking Elon Musk to take down community note on his military service
COLUMBUS, OHIO: Ohio GOP House candidate JR Majewski found himself embroiled in a social media storm after attempting to clarify the controversy surrounding his military service, with notable figures like Ohio Senator JD Vance endorsing him.
Senator Vance, a prominent figure in Ohio politics, voiced his support for Majewski on X (formerly Twitter), asserting that national Democrats had falsely accused the House candidate of misrepresenting his military record in 2022.
JR Majewski's military record controversy
Vance declared, "In 2022, national Democrats lied about @JRMajewski and his service record. Too many Republicans ran from these dishonest smears instead of fighting them. JR is running for Congress in 2024 and I'm proud to support him."

However, Vance's post faced a challenge when the social media platform's Community Notes feature appended a "correction", stating that Majewski had indeed misrepresented his service record, citing information from United States military documents obtained by the Associated Press. The note included links to coverage by Air Force Times regarding the controversy.
Majewski, in response, urged Elon Musk to intervene, claiming that "disinformation Dems are adding false community notes to Senator Vance’s post."
Hey @elonmusk the disinformation Dems are adding false community notes to Senator Vance’s post.

"MAGA congressional candidate asks Musk to take down the Community Note about his military service. It will be gone by tomorrow," he tweeted.

Controversy over Majewski's military service
Despite the backlash, it is crucial to examine the accuracy of the accusations against Majewski. The Associated Press reported in 2022 that military documents contradicted Majewski's claims of deploying to Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks. Instead, the records indicated he spent six months in Qatar, away from the active fighting.
The AP further claimed that Majewski's post-military career was marked by exaggerations, conspiracy theories, talk of violent action against the US government, and occasional financial duress.
However, recent developments have altered the narrative.
In 2023, military records were updated, confirming that JR Majewski was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, as per an updated DD 214 form dated 8/2023, confirmed by VFAF Veterans for Trump, KRON 4 reported.
This new information led to Majewski's exoneration, contradicting earlier reports. The updated records acknowledged his service in Qatar and his contribution as a "passenger operations specialist", dispelling the previous notion that he never deployed to Afghanistan.
Majewski, born in Toledo, Ohio, served in the US Air Force from 1999 to 2003, earning a bachelor’s degree in 2006. His post-military career included notable achievements in Nuclear Security at FirstEnergy’s Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station.
Rising through the ranks, he became the youngest Project Manager in the company's history, managing multi-million-dollar projects within the nuclear industry.
