WASHINGTON, DC: Amid the construction of the new ballroom in White House’s East Wing, conservatives have made a suggestion, pushing President Donald Trump to name it after the slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

However, Trump has suggested that no official decision has been made yet and clarified that he has no plans to name it after himself.

Several people on X demanded that the new ballroom be named after Charlie Kirk. They want it to be called the “Charles J Kirk Ballroom.” Independent journalist Eric Daugherty wrote, “Conservatives are suggesting President Trump name the new White House ballroom Charles J Kirk Ballroom,” adding, “GREAT idea.”

While earlier reports suggested that Trump might be naming the new ballroom after himself, the president has now clarified this to be untrue.

While speaking to the reporters about the naming of the ballroom, which is under construction, Trump, on Saturday, October 25, said, “Well, we’ve raised a lot. We have raised over $350 million. It’s a beautiful room, it’s a big room,” he added.

“I don't have any plan to call it after myself. Probably gonna call it the ‘Presidential Room’ or something like that. We haven't really thought about a name yet," he said right before departing for his Asia trip.

However, Trump did not mention anything about naming it after Charlie Kirk. The Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder was tragically shot and killed on September 10 during a public debate event at Utah Valley University

Kirk has been a significant factor in Trump's coming back to power, whose debates attracted young voters to support the Republican Party. Since then, the Trump administration awarded him the Medal of Freedom

Ever since his death, the conservatives have been calling for honoring him by naming something after him. Notably, in Florida, the Lake County Commission voted unanimously to designate the Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway on September 23.

‘The Hill’ carried a recent opinion piece where the authors wanted Trump to add Kirk to his Garden of Heroes, a proposal that was put forth by the President. The

Demolition began Monday, October 20, on the East Wing of the White House to make way for the ballroom, a gold-accented structure inspired by his Mar-a-Lago resort. Photos show heavy construction equipment tearing down the century-old East Wing.

While initial plans indicated part of the structure would remain, the president confirmed last week that the entire structure would be replaced to make way for the grand project.

The historic building was originally constructed in 1902 and expanded in 1942 to house an office for former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt, which is now being demolished, drawing criticism.
