WASHINGTON, DC: Former president Donald Trump stated on Saturday, March 2, that '82 percent of the country understands' that the result of the 2020 presidential election was due to electoral meddling.

While visiting Greensboro, North Carolina, as part of his campaign, the front-runner for the Republican nomination in 2024 reiterated his oft-stated assertion that the last presidential battle was rigged. On Super Tuesday, primary votes will take place in 15 states, including North Carolina.

Donald Trump claims majority of US believes 2020 election was rigged

Inquiring about the criminal accusations he faces in Georgia and Washington, DC over his purported attempts to tamper with the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, Trump said, "Do you ever notice they go after the people that want to find out where the cheating was? And by the way, 82% of the country understands that it was a rigged election. You can’t have a country with that. A poll came out, 82 percent," per Washington Examiner.

It's unclear where and when the survey that Trump mentioned was conducted. But the Public Religion Research Institute published the findings of its American Values Survey in November 2021, and it had a section on QAnon, conspiracies, and extremism.

According to that study, 82 percent of 'Republicans who most trust Fox News' 'completely agree' or 'mostly agree' that Trump was cheated out of the election the previous year. Just 31 out of all replies made up that proportion.

Only 65 percent of Republicans who indicated they most trust Fox News in the same survey from last year thought that Trump was cheated on to win the 2020 election; among all respondents, this figure rose to 32 percent.

Following his wins at the Republican Party convention in Michigan on Saturday and the Missouri and Idaho caucuses, Trump now has 244 delegates out of the 1,215 required to be the party's nominee for president.

If he maintains his decisive advantage over former governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley, he will go on to the general election, when he most likely will run against Biden once more.

Internet slams Donald Trump for his statement

Several people on the internet took a jibe at Donald Trump for his statement claiming 82 percent of US ‘understands’ 2020 election was rigged

A user wrote on X, "What’s the name of this condition?" while one added, "Cool story, never happened." Another person stated, "As in "rigged" in his favor, to the extent that it was? Then HELL yeah, I agree it was rigged."

Another person wrote, "Reality is not subject to opinion polls.\," while one stated, "Not even 82% of Republicans believe that." A person also added, "What he meant was that 82% of his family agreed."
