WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump has escalated the feud with the New York Times by targeting the outlet's reporter Maggie Haberman, accusing her of covering him “incorrectly” over a decade.

Trump’s social media rant against the outlet’s reporter comes after the Trump admin issued subpoenas to several New York Times journalists on Friday, July 10.

Trump brands Maggie Haberman a loser and targets her book

Trump launched a lengthy attack on New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, dismissing her reporting and book as "Fake News" while promoting his own physical and cognitive health.

“Maggot Hagerman has covered me incorrectly for ten years. Her book is a joke! 90% of it is Fake News,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Saturday.

“She has made a living off her bad reporting, and will pay the price when our Multi Billion Dollar Lawsuit against The Failing New York Times gets to Court, which should not be that long,” he continued.

Further lashing out at the NYT reporter, Trump argued that her efforts to make him lose the election by “fake” reporting didn’t work out.

“I don’t mind bad press, if they are right. I do mind Fake Reporting, like what’s in her boring book, and like she’s done for eleven years, with only one aim in mind, to have Trump lose Elections but, as I sit in the Oval Office and ponder, that hasn’t worked out too well,” Trump continued in the long social media rant.

“Maggot is a loser,” he added.

Trump touts cognitive test and claims historic first

Trump claimed he recently passed another cognitive test at Walter Reed, challenged Haberman and fellow journalist Jonathan Swan to take the same test, and urged supporters not to buy their book.

“I just finished a perfect physical at Walter Reed, I do it every six months, and I requested another Cognitive Test, the only President to do so, three times, and I aced them all,” Trump wrote, boasting about his cognitive ability.

The president further lashed out at Haberman and her associate, Jonathan Swan, questioning their cognitive ability and urging people not to buy their book.

“I would be willing to bet they couldn’t get 50% of the questions right. Anyway, don’t buy their book, it’s garbage,” he wrote.

DOJ subpoenas NYT journalists over Air Force One reporting

The subpoenas, issued by the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, require several journalists working for the outlet to testify before a federal grand jury in Manhattan next week regarding what the documents describe as an "alleged violation of federal criminal law."

The subpoenas are a part of a DOJ investigation into the disclosure of sensitive information related to the presidential aircraft. The outlet condemned the move, describing it as a "brazen attack" on press freedom.
