WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump recently claimed that he is unable to arrange meetings with potential running mates for the 2024 presidential election because of his New York hush money trial, as reported by The Hill.

This comes after a witness called by the former president's defense team was reprimanded by the court on Monday, May 20, causing the hush money trial to quickly descend into a wild scene.

Donald Trump says he is 'stuck in a refrigerator all day' due to the ongoing hush money trial

After the court was dismissed for the day, Trump complained, "We have 15 people that I’m supposed to be meeting about being, who is going to be our vice president. But I am stuck in the refrigerator all day."

The ex-POTUS' list of potential VP picks for the 2024 election includes Marco Rubio, JD Vance, Doug Burgum, Tim Scott, Doug Burgum, and Elise Stefanik.

Several Trump allies, including Ohio Sen Vance, have shown up at the Manhattan courthouse to show support amid the ongoing hush money trial. He told reporters, "Every single person involved in this prosecution is practically a Democratic political operative," as per TIME

North Dakota Gov Doug Burgum, who endorsed the former president after dropping his own presidential bid in January, also appeared in the Manhattan courtroom.

Trump also shared his thoughts about the witness, lawyer Robert Costello, who elicited a tense exchange with Judge Juan Merchan over his decorum in the courtroom, where at one point the judge insisted on knowing if he was being stared down.

He said, "You saw what happened to a highly respected lawyer today, Bob Costello. Wow."

It was one of the few times Trump has mentioned a witness by name. He is prohibited from disparaging witnesses, juries, prosecutors, court employees, and the judge's family by a gag order.

In the wake of Monday's courtroom drama surrounding the defense witness, Trump attacked Judge Merchan, saying, "You saw what we saw. That was incredible — I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. A tyrant. And everyone is talking about it."

The judge adjourned the trial for the day following a contentious exchange of words between the ex-POTUS' lawyers and the Manhattan district attorney's office prosecutors.

Furthermore, the defense requested that the judge rule Michael Cohen, the lead witness for the prosecution, uncredible and asked the 34 charges of fabricating business records against Trump be dismissed.

Internet reacts as Donald Trump claims criminal trial is preventing him from meeting potential VP picks

One wrote, "If we all had that option to commit as many crimes as we could than to try not to be accountable by simply saying we're running for President. It really can't be THAT easy could it?"

Another added, "He should be thinking about cell mates more than running mates."

"Why play so much golf then?" jokingly asked a person, while someone else remarked, "Doesn’t matter does it? Whoever he picks will be just as corrupt and broken as Trump."

An individual expressed, "Cry some more, you whiny little b," while one more shared, "One day without hearing one more lie come out of trumps yapping bazoo! Please!"
