'A change of course is needed': Top Biden aides concerned Democrats have no serious plan to beat Trump
WASHINGTON, DC: Strategists and senior advisers to President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party are opening up about their concerns regarding the direction of the incumbent's reelection campaign as well as his leadership, according to Axios.
Biden's expectations of victory in the upcoming general election rely primarily on voter concerns about the January 6 Capitol riot, political violence, democracy, and Donald Trump's character. While the core inner circle of the incumbent is yet to lose faith in the approach, they are reportedly out of touch with the rest of the party, as Biden has been unable to achieve a clear lead in polls even after Trump's conviction.
The concerns of Biden officials
With the election fast approaching in November, a strategist who remained unnamed told Axios that it was yet unclear how Biden's inner circle planned to defeat the presumptive GOP nominee, even assuming they had a plan in the first place.
"It is unclear to many of us watching from the outside whether the president and his core team realize how dire the situation is right now, and whether they even have a plan to fix it. That is scary," stated the official.
Another official, who also wished to remain anonymous, shared, "Even for those close to the center, there is a hesitance to raise skepticism or doubt about the current path, for fear of being viewed as disloyal."
"There is not a discussion that a change of course is needed," he added.
However, this narrative has been opposed by some of Biden's advisers, who reportedly told the publication, "These people have clearly not heard from Mike or anyone on the team the president's detailed case for re-election."
Ron Klain, the former Chief of Staff of President Biden who resigned from his position last year, shared that he strongly believed in Mike Donilon, Biden's top political aide, quipping, "In Mike I trust."
Internet riled up over claims about out-of-touch Biden camp
Democrats and Republicans have slammed each other in responding to the news over the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), as the following tweets demonstrate.
"They will cheat again," wrote a user.
"Let the Dems keep thinking they’re doing everything right. It’ll make Election Day that much more entertaining," mocked another.
