Dolly Parton shares heartfelt message for music educators in posthumous video weeks after death
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dolly Parton may have passed away, but she left behind a heartfelt pre-recorded message for teachers attending the CMA Foundation’s Music Teachers of Excellence event.
The 'Jolene' singer appeared in a posthumous video, celebrating music educators and highlighting how their work impacts the lives of others. Musician Zac Brown unveiled the video during the event on Wednesday, October 7.

At the CMA Foundation event, Brown introduced Parton’s message by saying it was a “special message for the teachers in this room” and that she had “took the time to speak directly to you.”
In the pre-recorded message, Parton sat facing the camera and spoke directly to the audience. She said, “I’ve always believed that music brings people together. But none of that happens without dedicated teachers who encourage, inspire and believe in the next generation and that’s why we’re celebrating tonight.”
With a wide smile, Parton added, “To every music teacher of excellence, I want to thank you for your passion, patience, and care that you give your students each day. Congratulations on this incredible milestone and keep making beautiful music together.”
Brown also praised the country music icon’s career and the legacy she built, which continues to be celebrated even weeks after her death. “When I think about legacy, I think about what we create, but even more than that, I think about what we give away,” he said.
“This is how our life continues to reach people long after a moment has passed. Few people understand that better than Dolly Parton,” he added. “She gave people hope,” Brown continued. “She believed in children and she used everything she built to create opportunities for others,” he concluded.
This is not the first time one of Parton’s pre-recorded videos has surfaced at an event or on social media. Her previously recorded messages and quotes continue to appear on her Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts.
Dolly Parton’s generosity extended beyond her music career
Beyond her success as a country music singer, Parton was known for her charitable work and dedication to helping others. She founded the Dollywood Foundation and the Imagination Library, which distributes books to children across multiple countries.
Parton also supported medical research, including donating money toward COVID-19 vaccine funding, according to Rolling Stone.
The singer reportedly died on August 25 following a brief battle with cancer. She kept her health struggles private and chose not to share details of her battle with many people. Her philanthropic work remains a significant part of her legacy.
