WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump issued a stark warning in a new campaign video, accusing the Department of Justice (DOJ) of targeting the American people.

The former president made the claim in a video posted on his Truth Social platform, highlighting the indictments he faced and framing them as a part of a broader attack on individual freedoms, per Newsweek.

Donald Trump says DOJ wants to 'take away' his freedom

Expressing his disbelief at the situation, Trump said, "I never thought anything like this could happen in America."

The clip features excerpts from the 77-year-old politician's speeches over the years, in which he declares, "They want to take away my freedom because I will never let them take away your freedom."

Contending the DOJ's actions as an attempt to undermine his and his supporters' freedom, Trump, who was recently found guilty in the hush money case, said, "They want to silence me because I will never let them silence you."

"They are not coming after me, they are coming after you and I just happen to be standing in their way and I will never be moving," he continued.

"The only crime that I have committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it," he said, adding, "The more that a broken system tells you that you are wrong, the more certain you should be that you should keep pushing ahead."

Trump called for a collective effort to reclaim the country in the upcoming presidential election, "On November 5, 2024, justice will be done, we will take back our country and we will make America great again."

"America will always rise to every challenge and overcome every danger," he continued.

"When I am re-elected I will totally obliterate the deep state. As long as we have pride in our beliefs, courage in our convictions, and faith in our God, then we will not fail," he added.

The new campaign video also featured an audio clip of Bill Barr, who served as the US attorney general under Trump, telling Fox News in 2023 that the indictments against the former president were "the epitome of the abuse of the prosecutorial power."

Another indictment relates to his hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 elections.
