WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump expressed optimism and support for the cause of a conservative Christian advocacy group, stating they would “make a comeback like just about no other group" if he is reelected.

The former president made the remarks on Monday, June 10, in a two-minute recorded video message delivered at the Danbury Institute’s Life and Liberty Forum, where the group gathered and heard from various Christian leaders.

Donald Trump vows to defend 'innocent life' if reelected

Aligning with the group's values, Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee for the upcoming presidential election vowed to defend “innocent life” if reelected but did not explicitly mention abortion in his speech.

“These are difficult times for our nation, and your work is so important. We can’t afford to have anyone sit on the sidelines,” he said.

“Now is the time for us all to pull together and to stand up for our values and for our freedoms. And you just can’t vote Democrat," the 77-year-old added.

The former president also accused Democrats of being "against religion." However, this remark contrasts with President Joe Biden's frequent references to his Catholic faith.

Speaking to the group, Trump stated, “We have to defend religious liberty, free speech, innocent life, and the heritage and tradition that built America into the greatest nation in the history of the world. But now we are, as you know, a declining nation."

“I know that each of you is protecting those values every day, and I hope we’ll be defending them side by side for your next four years. These are going to be your years, because you’re going to make a comeback like just about no other group,” he added, according to The Hill.

The Danbury Institute's mission

The conservative Christian advocacy group describes itself as “committed to truth and virtue in a world that validates absurdity as normal and ridicules what 10 years ago was taken for granted.”

Known for its uncompromised stance on various issues, the Danbury Institute criticizes modern societal changes and promotes a vision of America rooted in traditional values.

They advocate the end of abortion and maintain that marriage “is a unique union between one man and one woman for life, and sexual intimacy is to be expressed only within this marital relationship.”

Internet criticizes Donald Trump vowing Christian advocacy group a 'comeback'

Reacting to Trump assuring conservative Christians a comeback if he is reelected, one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote "There's a difference between real Christians and extremists pretending to be Christians."

"Hopefully he doubles down on this. Most Americans aren’t into Christian advocacy groups," a netizen commented while another user wrote, "'I don't care about you, I just want your vote.' -Donald J. Trump 6/6/24."

One user tweeted, "The man is a convicted criminal with other crimes awaiting trial."
