PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Amid the Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted to authorize an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump has falsely claimed that he never had the benefit of the same despite being impeached twice.

After Biden's impeachment inquiry was reported, Trump took to his Truth Social account to make the accusation.

"I got Impeached TWICE, was found NOT GUILTY, TWICE, but the Democrats never gave me the benefit or luxury of an Impeachment INQUIRY," he wrote.

The House approved the impeachment inquiry into Biden on December 13 by a vote of 221 to 212. However, according to CNN, the Republican lawmakers who pushed for the investigation have not yet presented credible evidence of wrongdoing by the incumbent.

Donald Trump argues he wouldn't have faced impeachment if there had been an inquiry

In his Truth Social post, the former President baselessly argued that he would never have faced two impeachments if he had been given a chance of inquiry as Biden got. "Had they done so I never would have been Impeached. They went straight to a Trial, before knowing anything about my complete and total innocence. WITCH HUNT! It was disgraceful. Biden is lucky to only have an Inquiry, and he's GUILTY AS HELL!"

Trump was impeached in 2020 and 2021 during his four-year presidential term, becoming the first president in the history of the country to be impeached twice.

According to the Congress' Constitution Annotated website, the first impeachment in 2020, accused him of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, alleging solicitation of foreign interference in the Presidential election.

The second, on January 6, 2021, centered on charges of "incitement to insurrection" during the House's vote to formalize Biden's victory.

Truth behind Donald Trump's claims

Trump's allegation of the House not allowing an impeachment inquiry both times was soon proved to be false. According to a CNN report, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump in September 2019 for the first one.

However, the House did not announce an official inquiry regarding the second impeachment. Insated the former President was impeached for a second time exactly one week after the January 6 insurrection.

Donald Trump faces online backlash

Social media users criticized the former President for falsely claiming he never had an impeachment inquiry.

One user said, "Another lie from Donald."

Another user stated, "It’s almost like he never bothered to read the document he swore to defend then betrayed."

"He’s creating a false narrative to encourage his supporters to fork over more," remarked a third user.

A fourth user added, "He’s just lying, as he usually does."

"It is very serious that he does not remember. He is not well," read another reaction.

Another stated, "He never paid enough attention at the time to know what was going on. His response to anything negative was to call it a witch hunt and was it. The only thing he pays attention to is himself and how to win in any situation."
