LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Doug Emhoff, the second gentleman and husband to Vice President Kamala Harris, is facing multiple allegations related to inappropriate workplace behavior during his tenure at the prominent law firm Venable LLP in Los Angeles.

According to a new report, Emhoff, who managed the office from 2006 to 2017, has been accused of being "flirty" with female colleagues, hiring unqualified employees based on their appearance, and retaliating against those who didn't respond to his advances.

These accusations, reported by the Daily Mail, are drawing increasing scrutiny as Emhoff's public profile grows in light of his wife's role as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.

Doug Emhoff fostered inappropriate work environment during time at Venable LLP

Former employees of Doug Emhoff allege that he fostered an inappropriate work environment during his time at Venable LLP, reportedly singling out “young, pretty girls” to receive special treatment, including invitations to ride with him in a limo.

The accusations suggest a clear pattern of preferential treatment toward certain female staff members, which has raised questions about Emhoff's conduct as a senior partner at the firm.

According to sources cited by the Daily Mail, Emhoff's behavior towards women was widely known among employees.

Some described him as an "a**hole" and a "misogynist," adding that he would lash out at those who challenged him.

One former staffer recounted an incident in which Emhoff allegedly boasted about shouting at a female colleague, reportedly telling her to “get the f**k out of my office.”

The incident, according to the source, was followed by Emhoff bragging to other male colleagues about how he had “put her in her place.”

An anonymous former female staff member at Venable further corroborated these allegations, claiming that Emhoff was known for being "very flirty" with his female colleagues.

Doug Emhoff reportedly used his position of power to manipulate work environment

Women who did not reciprocate Doug Emhoff's advances often found themselves on what was described as his "s**t list."

The source added, “There were deadlines that, if you were one of his favorite people, wouldn’t apply. But if you weren’t, they would.”

These claims suggest that Emhoff used his position of power to manipulate the work environment, creating an atmosphere where favoritism and retaliation were commonplace.

One of the most controversial aspects of the allegations against Emhoff is related to his hiring practices, particularly the case of an assistant known as “Katya.”

According to an August 2019 lawsuit filed by former legal secretary Marjan Rabbi, Emhoff is accused of hiring Katya, allegedly an unqualified assistant, because of her looks.

Identified by the Daily Mail as Katya Calderone, 36, she was hired during Emhoff's marriage to Harris, raising eyebrows both within and outside the firm.

The lawsuit detailed a “pattern of abusive conduct by male partners at Venable,” and although Emhoff was not named as a defendant, the accusations cast a shadow over his leadership.

Rabbi’s lawsuit claimed that the hiring of Katya was a clear example of how physical appearance outweighed qualifications in Emhoff’s eyes.

The name “Katya” reportedly became shorthand at the firm for attractive but underqualified employees, further emphasizing the toxic work culture Emhoff is alleged to have fostered.

These new accusations come on the heels of other serious claims against Emhoff. Over the past year, several incidents have surfaced, painting a troubling picture of his personal conduct.

Emhoff was recently accused of slapping an ex-girlfriend during a 2012 gala. The alleged incident, in which Emhoff reportedly reacted angrily after the woman was seen flirting with a valet worker, has been categorically denied by his spokesperson.
