LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: During an electrifying recent appearance on WWE’s 'Monday Night Raw', wrestler-turned-movie megastar Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson revived his trash-talking persona to verbally spar against opponent Jinder Mahal.

Though the jabs were flying left and right, one quip stood out from the rest when The Rock took an amusing shot at his own box office misfire – the critically maligned 2017 'Baywatch' reboot. Despite the film’s reputation as an all-around flop, fans on the Internet were quick to come to its defense after seeing The Rock rib his Razzie-winning dud.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson trades verbal jabs with Jindal Mahal

In a WWE comeback that rocked the arena, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson re-emerged on New Year's Day, taking the stage at Raw Day 1 not just to trade verbal jabs with opponent Jinder Mahal but also to land a few punches on himself.

The wrestler-turned-Hollywood icon revived his trademark gusto, dishing out taunts and showcasing the charisma that made him a household name in his wrestling heyday. He skillfully blended self-deprecation into his banter, targeting a notable misstep in his movie career.

"Nobody likes you, and you're not funny," he jabbed at Mahal, "As a matter of fact, if you were one of the Rock's movies, you would probably be 'Baywatch'."

Mahal attempted a comeback, claiming he'd never seen 'Baywatch', but The Rock was relentless in his ridicule of the film's poor performance.

"Well, nobody else did either," he quipped, referring to the movie where he shared the screen with Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

The Rock almost lost his composure, nearly breaking character as he chuckled before diving back into mocking 'Baywatch'. The movie, facing criticism from both critics and audiences, barely grossed $58.1 million at the North American box office, as per Entertainment Weekly.

Notably, The Rock has maintained a good-humored stance about the movie's performance since its release. When accepting a Razzie award for the film back in 2018, he shared the moment on social media with hearty laughter, admitting, "Let me go ahead and take this L right on the chin for 'Baywatch'."
