WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent media uproar, former 'The View' co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck ignited a firestorm of controversy with her sharp criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Hasselbeck's comments, directed at Harris's reaction following Donald Trump's 2016 election victory, have sparked a significant backlash online.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck questions Kamala Harris' leadership after Doritos fiasco

Hasselbeck's critique of Harris centered around an anecdote about Harris eating Doritos after Trump's 2016 win.

"Can you imagine how he deals with things, chugging down a bag of Sour Patch Kids because he’s depressed about something not going his way?" Hasselbeck asked rhetorically, referring to Harris's snack choice. "That’s the emotional response of the leader of the free world? To binge eat a bag of Doritos?"

Hasselbeck went on to argue that Harris’s response was emblematic of a broader issue with her leadership, saying, "It’s not about relatability, it’s about ability. You just talk to a Kamala Harris supposedly eating a bag of Doritos after hearing this—that’s the commander-in-chief?" She expressed shock that Harris was given such a prominent role, questioning, "I am shocked. I think this is aside from politics. If you just go on your aptitude, we have a big problem here and it’s scary."

Hasselbeck also criticized Harris’s performance in handling issues like immigration, suggesting that Harris had failed in her duties and questioning why she was still in a prominent position. She accused the media of bias, saying, "The punishment for conservative female voices right now is severe. You’re being cancelled, and contracts are not being renewed."

Social media users fire back with mockery and criticism

In response to Hasselbeck's critique, social media users quickly fired back with a mix of mockery and criticism.

One user wrote, "As opposed to Shillbilly Vance guzzling Mountain Dew?"

Another user replied, "Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s reaction to a Russian attack. “Hey Walt Nauta go get me some McDonald’s”. And if the missile doesn’t destroy my golf course, I’d like to play around when we land."

One user added, "Did a supporter of Donald Trump just accuse his opponent of binge eating?"

Another user said, "But Donald munching down KFC and mainlining Ketchup is ok?"

One replied, "Wtf is wrong with these people."

One added, "Trumps favourite food is literally McDonald's."
