BASTROP, TEXAS: Elon Musk has launched a petition campaign aimed at garnering public support for the First and Second Amendments.

The tech billionaire's campaign comes with a unique incentive by offering individuals who gather signatures from registered voters in key swing states to receive $47 for every successful referral.

Elon Musk's petition push with cash incentives

The initiative, which Elon Musk is promoting heavily on his social platform X, aims to collect one million signatures over the next two weeks.

This push comes as the 2024 presidential race heats up with Musk throwing his support behind former president Donald Trump.

Musk took to X to rally support for the petition and he encouraged his millions of followers to sign the pledge, which supports the Constitution's First and Second Amendments, guaranteeing freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.

In his post, the SpaceX CEO sweetened the deal by offering $47 for each voter in a swing state who signs the petition as a result of someone’s referral.

"For every person you refer who is a swing state voter, you get $47! Easy money," wrote Musk, the America PAC founder.

The America PAC’s campaign targets seven key swing states, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina where it seeks to secure the signatures of registered voters.

Elon Musk says ‘this will be the last election if Trump doesn’t win’

During a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, October 5, Elon Musk spoke passionately about the stakes of the upcoming presidential election, declaring Trump as the only candidate capable of preserving democracy.

Speaking to the crowd, Musk who wore a signature 'Make America Great Again' hat, said, "This will be the last election if Trump doesn’t win."

The high-profile endorsement comes as the Trump campaign intensifies its efforts to secure battleground states.

The PAC’s petition drive is seen as part of this broader push, with Musk positioning himself as a key supporter in Trump's bid to reclaim the White House.

Legal implications and incentive structure

While federal law prohibits payment for voter registration or casting votes in federal elections, it does allow financial incentives for petition signing, which is the focus of Musk’s America PAC initiative.

The PAC's effort is aimed specifically at encouraging citizens to express their support for constitutional rights, rather than influencing voter turnout directly.

The petition campaign’s timing coincides with rising political tension between the Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris campaigns.

As Harris officially entered the race, swing state polls have become increasingly tight.

Harris currently leads Trump by a narrow 3.4 percentage points, 49.8% to Trump’s 46.4%, according to a national polling average by The Hill and Decision Desk HQ.
