Elon Musk told biographer Donald Trump ‘reminds me of my father’ despite calling him a 'conman'
WASHINGTON, DC: Elon Musk has reportedly said in the past that President Donald Trump “reminds” him of his own father, Errol Musk.
Biographer Walter Isaacson, who wrote 2023 book ‘Elon Musk’, did an interview with MSNBC on Monday, January 27, where he discussed the Tesla CEO and the president’s dynamics, as per The Daily Beast.
Isaacson shared that Musk initially thought of Trump as a “Charlatan and a conman,” but “then he he said, ‘You know, but he reminds me of my father.’”
Errol Musk has ‘extreme views’ like Trump
The best-selling author also went on to say that the richest man on the earth shared “a very complex relationship with his own father, they don’t speak really. But his father has that same type of very, I would say, conspiracist and extreme views and is a fabulist.”
“So it’s an interesting tale. Ever since Musk was a kid being beaten up—psychologically abused by his father, beaten up by other kids—he fantasized being the X-Man. The person coming in to try to save humanity,” he continued.
“And now he’s bonded with Donald Trump especially on the pursuit of cutting back regulations, cutting federal spending and streamlining things,” the 72-year-old journalist revealed.
Elon Musk claimed Errol Musk did ‘terrible’ things
In 2017, Musk himself shared that his relationship with his father was not good.
The SpaceX founder told Rolling Stone, “You have no idea about how bad. Almost every crime you can possibly think of, he has done. Almost every evil thing you could possibly think of, he has done … It’s so terrible, you can’t believe it.”
He also spoke about the failed efforts he made to fix his relationship with Errol. “In my experience, there is nothing you can do,” he stated at the time.
Musk then added, “Nothing, nothing. I wish. I’ve tried everything. I tried threats, rewards, intellectual arguments, emotional arguments, everything to try to change my father for the better, and he… no way, it just got worse.”
Elon Musk faced criticisms for his controversial gesture
This came after Musk lately has faced a lot of backlash for his controversial gesture at Trump’s inauguration rally.
He was reportedly accused of doing a Nazi salute at the Capitol One Arena rally on Monday, January 20.
Even his own daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson called him out and posted on Instagram’s Threads platform, “I’m just gonna say let’s call a spade a f***ing spade. Especially if there were two spades done in succession based on the reaction of the first spade.”
But the 53-year-old fired back at the allegation, though not directly at his daughter, saying, “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The 'everyone is Hitler' attack is sooo tired.”
