Emily Osment reveals what it was like working with Dolly Parton on 'Hannah Montana'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dolly Parton’s death has shocked Hollywood. Nearly a month after the 'Jolene' singer’s death, Emily Osment opened up about her memories of working with Parton on ‘Hannah Montana.’
For those unaware, Parton appeared in the Disney series in three episodes: Season 1’s 'Good Golly, Miss Dolly' in 2006, Season 2’s 'I Will Always Loathe You' in 2007, and Season 4’s 'Kiss It All Goodbye' in 2010.

Osment played Lilly Truscott, Miley Stewart’s best friend on 'Hannah Montana.' When Lilly needed an undercover alias to join Miley at a public performance, she disguised herself as Lola Luftnagle.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the Warner Bros. Television Group’s 78th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominees Celebration on September 14, Osment recalled what it was like working with Parton.
“Oh man, she was so lovely,” Osment said. “She was, if not on time, very early, and she always smelled like magnolias. That’s what I remember. She smelled really good.”
Parton brought plenty of her own charm to the Disney series as Aunt Dolly, Miley Cyrus’ on-screen aunt and real-life godmother.
In a 2020 interview with Vanity Fair, Parton shared, “We just worked so great together... and thanks to her, I had a whole new following of people that were turned on to me.”
She also shared her thoughts about the show, adding, “These young, little kids that were her fans, and kids that were fans of just the whole show, and the other little artists on the show, but here I am, Miley’s fairy godmother.”

The 'Jolene' singer died on August 25 at the age of 80, following a battle with cancer.
A day later, Miley Cyrus shared an emotional tribute to her godmother.
“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts.”
“What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis,” she continued.
“I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things. @dollyparton,” Cyrus concluded.
