Now, the 70-year-old actor has shared a heartfelt message for his daughter, whom he shares with ex Kelly Cunningham.
“I love my daughter, always have, always will. It is perfectly wonderful for her to celebrate however she wants, with whomever she wants,” the 'The Pope of Greenwich Village' star told Page Six.
Eric Roberts discusses emotional struggles after Emma's birth
His comments came months after Eric opened up about his relationship with Emma.
In April, he appeared on the 'Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson' podcast, where he claimed to be “emotionally, a wash rag” when the 'We're the Millers' actress was born.
“I was not to be depended on emotionally whatsoever, because I was a car wreck,” he added.
The 'The Dark Knight' actor, however, described Emma's birth as “magic.”
He explained, “It was the most complete moment maybe I have ever had in my life, that something I did was recognized by a brand-new creature who had my DNA. And there she was. And she already knew me. … It was magic. And I’ll always have that.”

But in his 2024 memoir, 'Runaway Train: Or the Story of My Life So Far,' Eric admitted that despite being overjoyed by the birth of his daughter, he was not ready to be a father.
He reportedly shared, “I fell madly in love with Emma the first minute I saw her. We’d even tried to bring on labor so it could happen exactly on the due date. It was a natural birth. I sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her belly a lot.”
Eric Roberts admits he wasn't ready for fatherhood
“When Emma finally made her appearance, she wasn’t quite quiet and mellow, but when I started singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her, she must have recognized my voice because she calmed right down. I loved my little daughter with the strength of Hercules, despite my own weaknesses,” the 'King of the Gypsies' star explained.
He, however, also stated that he “couldn’t handle the realities of an infant coming into my life, and I couldn’t handle being a parent! I’m still not a father figure.”
