WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump asserted that the United States will soon become the envy of the entire world as the country heads into a year defined by celebration, renewal, and global attention.
Speaking during a prime-time address to the nation on Wednesday, December 17, Trump framed 2026 as a transformational moment in American history, anchored by the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, set to be commemorated on July 4, 2026.
The president described the coming year as a period of national confidence and resurgence, arguing that the United States is reclaiming its standing on the world stage after what he portrayed as years of decline. He positioned the anniversary celebrations as more than symbolic, presenting them as proof of America’s renewed strength and unity.
Trump links global events to national revival
During his address, Trump highlighted the United States’ role as host of major international events, including the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games, connecting them to what he described as a broader American comeback.
“Soon we will host the World Cup and the Olympics, both of which I got, but most importantly, we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence,” Trump said.
He argued that the convergence of these events reflected growing global respect for the United States and reinforced his claim that the country is once again commanding international admiration. According to Trump, the coming year offers an opportunity to showcase American values, economic strength, and national pride to the rest of the world.
Trump also framed the anniversary as a natural continuation of what he described as a recovery that began a year earlier. “There could be no more fitting tribute to this epic milestone than to complete the comeback of America that began just one year ago,” he said.
Trump predicts America will be envied worldwide
Trump said he wanted the world to see a nation that is unified, confident, and firmly rooted in its identity. He emphasized loyalty to citizens and workers while portraying the United States as a country with a clear sense of purpose.
“When the world looks at us next year, let them see a nation that is loyal to its citizens, faithful to its workers, confident in its identity, certain of its destiny, and the envy of the entire globe,” Trump said. He added that the United States is “respected again like we have never been respected before."
The president closed his address with a holiday message, wishing Americans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and offering a blessing at the conclusion of his remarks.
Task Force 250 plans nationwide anniversary celebrations
To prepare for the historic milestone, federal and local governments have already begun coordinating large-scale celebrations across the country.
Earlier this year, Trump established Task Force 250, a federal body charged with overseeing the planning and execution of events marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. The task force is expected to coordinate with state and local commissions to ensure nationwide participation.
Several states have already launched their own planning committees, while national initiatives are underway. These include the Smithsonian Institution’s “American Presidents” exhibition and the Department of Transportation’s Great American Road Trip, both designed to highlight American history and civic identity ahead of the anniversary year.
The White House has signaled that additional programs and events will be announced in the months leading up to July 2026, as preparations continue for what Trump has described as a defining chapter in the nation’s story.
