'Epic burn': Internet praises Jimmy Kimmel's hilarious takedown of MAGA supporters by US citizenship test
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: The feud between Donald Trump and Jimmy Kimmel is intensifying with each passing day, and was evident from Jimmy Kimmel Live's latest episode.
Following Kimmel's use of the Academy Awards platform to publicly mock Trump by reading out the former president's critical remarks about Kimmel's hosting abilities, Trump has been keen to reshape the narrative, positioning himself as the victor in their ongoing clash.
Jimmy Kimmel's quiz exposes gaps in MAGA supporters' knowledge of civics
On March 18, Kimmel raised the stakes once again, showcasing the limited knowledge of Trump's steadfast supporters.
The late-night host enlisted writer Blaire Erskine to attend a Trump rally in South Carolina with a straightforward mission: to persuade Trump supporters to participate in a brief quiz based on the American Citizenship Test.
Kimmel's intention was to gauge, "just how patriotic these patriots are."
He remarked, "The fact of the matter is the people who support Trump and the MAGA agenda are under the impression that America was founded on the idea of excluding those who do not share your beliefs, which is the opposite of the truth," emphasizing the erroneous belief in exclusion as a foundational American value.
Erskine's initial question, "What is the supreme law of the land?" appeared straightforward to some, but proved to be a challenge for many of the MAGA supporters she interviewed. The query elicited groans, puzzled looks, and one individual earnestly suggesting "Guns, liberty, and justice?" as a response.
To clarify, the correct answer is the Constitution.
When asked about the number of amendments in the Constitution, responses varied from 10 to a vague "twenty-something, I think," which was a decent guess until one participant switched her answer to "maybe 13."
In reality, the correct answer is 27.
Regarding the first three words of the Constitution, a particularly confident MAGA supporter promptly replied with "In God we trust," prompting Erskine to clarify, "OK, so that's four [words]."
On a brighter note, one young MAGA supporter did correctly respond with "We the people," although he admitted receiving assistance from a passerby.
"You cheated," exclaimed Erskine. "You cheated like Joe Biden!"
