Eric Trump concerned over assassination attempt on Donald Trump, says 'my father is running out of lives'
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Eric Trump, in a recent interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News, has expressed concern over the alarming series of assassination attempts targeting his father Donald Trump.
“My father is running out of lives here,” said Eric Trump, adding, "How many more rifles are going to come within assassination distance of my father?" according to BBC.
Assassination attempt against Donald Trump at Trump golf course
Shots were fired near Trump International Golf Course where the former president was golfing at the time on Sunday, September 15.
Secret Service agents, who are responsible for protecting Trump, reportedly opened fire after spotting suspect Ryan Routh hiding in the bushes with an AK-47-style rifle.
The suspect was positioned just a few between 300 and 500 yards away from Trump when the agents intervened.
The shots fired by the Secret Service agents caused Routh to flee the scene.
However, he was later apprehended. The rifle, a scope, and a GoPro camera were recovered from the scene.
In the aftermath of the Pennsylvania incident where a man named Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots at Trump and injured the former president during a campaign rally on July 14, 2024, Eric Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the security measures in place.
“Somebody let him down – as his son, I’m not very happy about it,” he said, adding, “It was a failure, even though $3 billion was spent behind it.”
Security concerns ahead of November elections
With two assassination attempts against Donald Trump occurring within a short span, security concerns around the Republican presidential candidate have intensified as he continues his campaign for the presidency.
Voicing his concerns about the effectiveness of the Secret Service's protection, Eric reflected on how close both attempts came to succeeding.
“Those 48 hours could have been very different. He’s doing great, he’s out campaigning,” he told The Guardian.
