WASHINGTON, DC: A rumor circulating on social media claims Democrats are offering $1,000,001 not to report voter fraud ahead of the election, in response to President Donald Trump’s reward of $1M to anyone who reports voter fraud. The claim has sparked criticism and speculation, with many calling for a fact-check.

Claim: Democrats offered $1,000,001 not to report voter fraud

The claim appeared as a post on X, along with an image of Senate Minority Leader (@TheBabylonBee/X)

The claim appeared as an X post, along with an image of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and accompanied by a link to an article.

According to the article, Democrats stated that restoring Americans' confidence in the election was of paramount importance, promising to pay whatever it took to keep fraud from being uncovered.

"Donald Trump thinks he can put a price on the integrity of our elections," said Senator Chuck Schumer. "Well, he's right. But we are offering one dollar more if you will keep your yapper shut. Remember, snitches get stitches. Well, actually, they get a million bucks. But you can get even more for keeping quiet."

The post drew hundreds of thousands of views as of this writing, garnering conflicting reactions online. Many believe the claim, while others dismiss it as satire.

The claim, however, is false, as it has its origin in a satirical account.

The claim was posted by an account called ‘The Babylon Bee,’ which describes itself as ‘fake news.’

If Democrats had really made such an offer, it would have been widely covered by credible news outlets, triggering a controversy. A search on Google for the claim also returned no such news reports or official statements from the Democrats that support the claim.

The claim is a satirical take on Trump offering a $1 million reward to anyone who reports voter fraud in past elections or the upcoming midterm elections. The announcement came as Trump and his administration have repeatedly made unfounded claims that widespread voter fraud occurred in past elections.

Taking to his official Truth Social account, Trump wrote, “Anybody reporting Voter Fraud in past Elections, or the upcoming 2026 Midterm Election, will be paid $1,000,000 upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the Fraud!”

He later repeated his offer in front of reporters, saying, “going to be issuing a million-dollar bonus or reward or whatever you want to call it for anybody that reports voter fraud leading to the arrest and conviction of somebody.”
