It allegedly features an audio recording of the country music legend revealing her “final wish” to be buried next to her late husband, Carl Dean. The claim has quickly gained attention online, prompting questions about whether the recording is authentic.

Instagram users continued to comment on a video posted almost two weeks earlier by the Spotlight Hollywood (@spotlighthollywood) account. The video, posted on August 12, combines clips of Parton with an audio recording that plays over the footage.
The post claimed that Parton had revealed three wishes she wanted to fulfill before her death. However, the audio focuses on what it describes as her “final wish”, to be buried next to her late husband, Carl Dean.
In the recording, a voice claiming to be Parton says she may not have the chance to see her fans again and describes the message as her final goodbye. The voice also claims that Parton’s health had worsened and that she could spend only short periods awake.
The voice asks fans not to be sad and says that if she dies, she wants to be buried next to her husband so she would not feel alone. It ends by encouraging fans to take care of their health, enjoy each day, and remember that she loved them.
"I hope to be buried next to my husband. At least that way, I won't feel lonely when I go. That is my only wish."
Fact Check: Dolly Parton made no such wish
The claim is false. Although reports say Parton’s family plans to bury her next to her late husband, Carl Dean, the audio in the viral video is not authentic.
The video uses genuine footage of Parton, but the voiceover was created using artificial intelligence to imitate her voice.
No credible reports or other evidence show that Parton ever made the statements in the recording.
Online searches found only social media posts sharing the audio, including one TikTok video posted as early as December 2025. At that time, no reports said Parton was in intensive care, as the recording claims.
Reports about Parton’s actual wishes after her death have mentioned being buried in a “beautiful bed of plush cotton” and keeping Dollywood open as a celebration of her life.
However, these reports do not link her wishes to the viral audio recording.
