According to the social media post, Donald Trump has granted Nicki Minaj US citizenship, making her officially American.

The claim appeared as a post on X, which has garnered almost half a million views as of this writing and has been shared and amplified by several other accounts.

The claim evoked contradictory reactions among online users, with fans praising the rapper and the president for the alleged development, while a few others questioned her eligibility for citizenship and slammed Trump.

Meanwhile, a few others appeared to remain skeptical and questioned the authenticity of the claim, prompting a fact-check.

Fact Check: The claim originated from a parody account

Although Minaj announced in January this year on social media that her citizenship paperwork was being finalized, there are no new developments that support the claim.

The 43-year-old rapper has made no new announcements, and neither she nor the Trump administration has made any official statements about her being officially an American.

If the claim were true, prominent news and entertainment media outlets would have covered it widely, given Minaj’s close ties to the president, but a Google search for the claim returned no results.

Moreover, the claim originated from a popular parody account called ‘Hoops Crave,’ which describes itself in the bio as ‘satire.’

Earlier this year, Minaj made headlines by calling herself Trump’s number one fan

“The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more, and it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more,” Minaj said.

“We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him and the smear campaigns. It’s not going to work, OK? He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him.”

In a 2020 interview with ‘Rolling Stone, ’ Minaj stated that Trump was “funny as hell” on 'Celebrity Apprentice' but expressed concerns over the images of children taken from their parents during immigration crackdowns.
