Fact Check: Did Elon Musk recently get a new haircut similar to Adolf Hitler?

AUSTIN, TEXAS: Ever since Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by President Donald Trump, the multi-billionaire has been in the news.

Several claims and rumors surfaced across social media regarding the DOGE head, and most of them were later debunked. A recent rumor claims that Elon Musk  got a new haircut similar to Adolf Hitler's. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out.

Claim: Elon Musk got a new haircut similar to Adolf Hitler

Many users on X shared pictures of Elon Musk donning a different hairstyle. In the viral picture shared by an X user @mrpxssy, Musk can be seen in a different look where the sides and bottom of his hair are buzz cut to zero whereas there is a good amount of hair on the top of his head.



 

Another user shared a similar picture and captioned it, "Musk apologists: you’re crazy if you think that angry straight-armed salute was a Heil. Musk to his barber: give me the Hitler."



 

People commenting on the posts also compared Musk's hairstyle to that of Adolf Hitler and North Korea ruler Kim Jong Un's hairstyle.

A user said, "It’s kinda Kim Jung Un meets Hitler meets 90’s Depeche Mode."



 

Another person commented, "Elon's Barber was like POINT TO WHAT YOU WANT!", whereas one mentioned, "How many Roman Salutes did he make to unlock that haircut?"



 



 

A user wrote, "Just 2 inches off my hairline… all the way around…"



 

False: The viral pictures are resurfaced images

The photos of Elon Musk's hairstyle that went viral on X are actually resurfaced pictures as the same images were shared on social media back in 2021 and 2022.



 

Moreover, no credible news outlet covered any such news about Elon Musk donning a new hairstyle.

Furthermore, a simple Google search also did not show any result on Musk getting a new haircut at the time of writing this story.

Elon Musk's controversial salute during Donald Trump's inauguration

The controversy started after Elon Musk made headlines for allegedly giving a Nazi salute after his speech at Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington, DC, on January 20.

After celebrating Trump's victory and thanking his supporters, the Tesla CEO seemed to place his hand on his chest as he extended his right arm into the air and repeated the gesture to the other side of the crowd.



 

The video went viral across social media and people started linking his arm movement to the Nazi salute.
