Fact Check: Did Haley Stevens ask Democrats to embrace her and seek forgiveness?
LANSING, MICHIGAN: Amid the much-anticipated midterm elections, a rumor is circulating on social media platforms claiming Rep. Haley Stevens has sought forgiveness from Democrats after she was kicked out of the party in Michigan for endorsing Republican candidate Mike Rogers. The claim has sparked skepticism and called for a fact-check.
Claim: Haley Stevens seeks forgiveness from Democrats

According to an X post rapidly gaining traction, Haley Stevens says Democrats must forgive her and embrace her again.
The claim surfaced after she was kicked out of the Michigan Democratic Party for abandoning Democratic Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed and backing Republican rival Mike Rogers.
The post garnered thousands of views as of this writing and has also spread on other platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. It has evoked overwhelming reactions from netizens, with many appearing to believe the claim while others remained skeptical and called it fake, prompting a fact-check.
Fact Check: Haley Stevens made no such remark

However, the claim is rated as false, as there is no evidence of Stevens asking forgiveness from the Democrats and telling them to embrace her again as of this writing.
There are no new statements, speeches, press conferences, or social media posts from Stevens that support the claim.
If such a development had really taken place, it would have made headlines, given the sensationalism of the claim. A Google search for the claim also yielded no credible news report.
Additionally, the claim originated from an X user named Spencer Hakimian, who describes in the bio as ‘craziest stories on the internet,’ likely suggesting that the posts are intended as satire.
Haley Stevens kicked out of Michigan Democratic Party

Party chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, Curtis Hertel, on Sunday, November 1, clarified that Stevens, who flipped a previously Republican-held congressional district for the party in 2018, is no longer part of the party.
“Congresswoman Stevens is not a current member of the Michigan Democratic Party, nor will she be in the future,” Hertel announced on X
The decision came barely an hour after Stevens released a video endorsing Rogers, days after public tension with El-Sayed, who defeated her in August in the Democratic primary.
While endorsing Rogers, Stevens insisted that she was “still a very proud Democrat,” but Hertel doesn’t think so, as he accused her of abandoning “all your values.”
The feud between Stevens and El-Sayed was centered on their positions on Israel, an issue that had already made the primary particularly bitter and divisive.
