The post had received more than 2.3 million views at the time of writing. Several users quickly joined the discussion about the alleged Iranian declaration.

One user wrote, "How is it closed if the US already won the war and stated that the straight is open, and said that Iran has no military, navy, or air defence?"

Another user asked, "what? Iran’s statement said the strait stays closed until the US lifts sanctions and ends military blockades. Aggregators are just framing "until US changes behavior" as "end of Trump's term" to farm engagement."

The post appeared online as Trump continued to make claims about US control of the Strait of Hormuz and pressure on Iran. Trump has said that the US Navy has full control of the strait and that US forces have “mineswept the entire strait."

Trump's current term is scheduled to end in January 2029.

The claim circulating on X attributes the statement to a “senior Iranian source” and Majid Shakeri, who is described as an adviser to Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf.

The posts list Iran's demands and claim that the strait will remain closed until 2029 unless the US meets all of them. However, no official Iranian statement or reliable news report has independently confirmed this claim.

Iran has previously said that the Strait of Hormuz was closed “until further notice” and, in some statements, until the “end of US interference in the region.”
