Fact Check: Did Kim Jong-un die after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage?
WASHINGTON, DC: An online rumor claiming that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has died after suffering a severe cerebral hemorrhage has sparked questions about his health.
The claim alleges that Kim fell into a coma and was transferred to China for emergency treatment because of North Korea's poor medical facilities. Let's fact-check the claim.
Claim: Kim Jong-un has died
It is rumored that recently,Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Supreme Leader of North Korea, suffered a severe cerebral hemorrhage and fell into a coma. Although a team of medical experts from Peking Union Medical College Hospital was dispatched to North Korea to assist in his treatment, the poor medical conditions in North Korea forced Kim Jong-un to be transferred to Peking Union Medical College Hospital for emergency treatment. However, due to the severity of his condition and the fact that the optimal window for treatment had passed, Kim Jong-un succumbed to his injuries and died. His body has been secretly transported back to North Korea, and the news of his death is being kept under wraps.

Fact Check: False, the claim is not correct
The claim that Kim Jong-un has died is false.
The rumor circulating on social media, including posts alleging that he died in Beijing after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage, is not supported by credible evidence.
North Korean state media, including the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), reported on Kim's public activities in October 2026.
According to reports, Kim attended a performance marking the 81st anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea around October 10, accompanied by his wife, Ri Sol-ju, and daughter, Kim Ju-ae.

He also inspected and inaugurated the National Defense Revolution Museum between October 11 and 13.
The museum showcases weapons, including intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). State media released photographs of these events.
News outlets also reported on October 13 that Kim attended the museum's opening with his wife and daughter, while other reports covered his recent missile-related activities.
No credible reports have confirmed Kim's death. Instead, recent media coverage and North Korean state reports have documented his public appearances.
Although rumors about Kim's health and death have circulated periodically because of North Korea's limited transparency, the current claim provides no reliable evidence to support the allegation. The “1984–2026” memorial image associated with the rumor also appears to be fabricated.
