The post alleged that Homan said he’s “not amused” with Zohran Mamdani's wife and her threats to have him “disappear.”
“She’s threatening a federal officer,” Homan said. “She’s lucky I don’t head down to her mosque and arrest her myself.”
According to the post, Homan’s response came after Duwaji told her followers that if Homan ever came to the city, he would disappear as if he had never existed at all.
“I’ll be there on Saturday. She can meet me at LaGuardia,” Homan said, according to the viral post.
The comment section appeared divided, with many supporting Mamdani's wife while others stood with Homan. Meanwhile, a few others questioned the authenticity of the claim and called for a fact-check.
Fact Check: No evidence of an exchange between Rama Duwaji and Tom Homan
However, the claim is false, as there are no reports of Homan making such a threat against NYC’s First Lady. There is also no evidence that Duwaji told her followers that Homan would disappear if he ever entered the city.
A search on Google for the remarks yielded no credible reports by prominent news media outlets, which, if true, would have made headlines. A search of Duwaji's social media handles also showed no evidence of her making threats against the Border Czar.
Moreover, the rumor surfaced from an account that has posted several such fake and exaggerated claims for the sake of engagement; hence, the post was likely intended as a parody.
Zohran Mamdani called for the abolition of ICE
Mamdani, in June, called for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and argued that the agency could not be reformed.
“This is partially why I have put forward a vision alongside so many others to say that ICE should be abolished, that there is no way to reform this kind of cruelty that we’re seeing endemic in the way that immigration is being enforced across the country,” he said.
