WASHINGTON, DC: Rumors have been spreading online that rapper Nicki Minaj lost 10 million Instagram followers and reportedly deleted her account after a controversial appearance at a Turning Point USA event.

Minaj’s surprise appearance at the TPUSA event, her most recent show of support for conservative causes, has surprised many of her fans.

Claim: Nicki Minaj lost 10M followers and deleted Instagram

Viral posts on social media claim that Nicki Minaj faced backlash following a recent interview at a Turning Point USA AmericaFest event on December 21.

The posts allege she lost about 10 million Instagram followers and deleted her account as a result.

These claims have spread widely, with screenshots and reposts circulating across X and Instagram.

Fact Check: False, no evidence to back the viral claim

Nicki Minaj’s official Instagram profile, @nickiminaj, which had hundreds of millions of followers, is currently inactive or deactivated and no longer visible on the platform.

While the disappearance has fueled speculation, there is no evidence that Minaj deleted the profile because of follower losses tied to her appearance at a Turning Point USA event. No records indicate that she lost 10 million followers after the interview.

Celebrities frequently deactivate or temporarily remove social media accounts for reasons unrelated to backlash, including promotional strategies, platform changes, personal choice, or technical issues.

Although Minaj appears to have lost some followers following her recent political positioning, the decline is far smaller than claimed. According to Emily Compagno, Minaj “may have lost followers on social media, but she has gained the respect of many.”

Instagram data shows Minaj had about 223.8 million followers in December, down from 227.5 million in November. In October, she had 223.9 million followers, indicating only a modest fluctuation before her account became inactive.

Minaj supported Trump at TPUSA event

Nicki Minaj surprised many by expressing her support for President Donald Trump.

While she had occasionally praised him in the past, Minaj made a clear show of support during an appearance at the Turning Point USA AmericaFest event on December 21. She sat next to Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, during an interview-style session.

"Dear young men, you have amazing role models like our handsome, dashing president, and you have amazing role models like the assassin, JD Vance, our vice president," Minaj said.

There is no evidence that Nicki Minaj lost 10 million Instagram followers specifically because of the TPUSA appearance, nor is there confirmation that she deleted her account due to the alleged follower loss.
