WASHINGTON, DC: Amid the speculation surrounding former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2028 presidential bid, a rumor is circulating on social media platforms claiming that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has refused to support Harris’ 2028 run. The claim has sparked mockery and questions, with users asking for a fact-check.

Claim: DNC refuses support for Kamala Harris' presidential bid



According to a post that surfaced on X, the Democratic National Committee has officially informed Kamala Harris that it will not support her bid for president in 2028, stating that sinking more money and resources into another Harris campaign is a lost cause. 

The post alleged that Harris lost the 2024 election despite benefiting from widespread voter fraud involving mail-in ballots and illegal voting.

It also claims the proposed Save Act would prevent noncitizens from voting, implying this would further hurt Harris' electoral prospects.

The post concludes by criticizing Harris' speaking style and record, asserting that the Democratic Party has moved on from her and that her political career is effectively over. 

The post has garnered mockery against the former vice president, suggesting that users believe the claim to be true, while others called for a fact-check.

Fact Check: No such announcement from Democratic National Committee

The claim is false, as there is no evidence of the DNC refusing to support Harris for the 2028 White House run.

There are no publicly available reports such as official statements, announcements, or press releases by the board that support the claim. Moreover, Harris hasn’t ruled out running for president in 2028.

A Google search for the claim also did not yield any reliable results from prominent news media outlets, which, if true, would not go unreported.

The post likely originated as a meme or a satire, made for the sake of engagement; hence, the claim is rated as false.

In June, Harris acknowledged that she is “thinking about” a potential presidential campaign, though sources close to her say she has not formally begun deliberations with her team. 

Meanwhile, a growing number of her former allies, supporters, donors, and Democratic insiders are not convinced she is the right person to lead the party after this year’s loss. 

A source familiar with Harris' thinking told ABC News that she is considering all options but has not begun explicitly discussing a run with her team.
