Claim: 'The View' invited Karoline Leavitt to become a full-time co-host

The report came as the 29-year-old ended her nearly 20-month tenure as the nation’s youngest-ever White House press secretary. 

On her final day in the role, a report claimed that 'The View' had invited her to join the show.

Notably, six co-hosts from Season 29, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin, prepare to return for Season 30 on September 8.

The reported invitation also comes as ABC and its parent company, The Walt Disney Company, face scrutiny from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over the show. 

In January, the FCC proposed that “bona fide” news programs be exempted from its equal-time rules but specifically excluded daytime and late-night talk shows from that exemption.

‘The View’ regularly invites political figures and newsmakers to appear on the program, making an invitation to Leavitt plausible. However, the report has drawn attention because of the tense relationship between the Trump administration and ABC.

The claims are false. Outgoing White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has been invited to appear on ABC’s The View as a one-time guest.

However, she is not joining the show as a co-host or regular panelist. The invitation is for a standard guest appearance on a single episode, not a permanent or temporary co-hosting role.

Leavitt stepped down as White House press secretary to spend more time with her family and move to a role with MAGA Inc, a Trump-aligned super PAC.

On August 27, she spoke with NewsNation’s Morning in America and described the experience as “a very surreal feeling.” She also called her time in the administration “the adventure of a lifetime.”

Leavitt said leaving the White House was “one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make.” She explained that the press secretary’s job requires someone who can be available around the clock and said she had reached a point in her life where she could not balance everything at once.

Leavitt also confirmed that the search for her replacement was still underway. She said the administration had a list of potential candidates and that she had offered to help with the selection process.
