WASHINGTON, DC: A social media debate has erupted over promotional graphics used for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, DC.

Some users claim the White House copied designs from other racing events, sparking questions about the origin of the graphics. Let's fact-check the claim.

Claim: White House copied Freedom 250 Grand Prix posters from other racing events

The rumor appears to have begun with an X user who shared side-by-side comparisons of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix poster and older racing artwork.

The post accused the event’s marketing team of heavily copying the bold illustration style used in 1930s Grand Prix posters, including Geo Ham’s 1935 Monaco design.

The post also cited racing commentator NicoleOnRacing, who pointed out similarities between the Freedom 250 and 24 Hours of Daytona promotional graphics.

The comparisons highlighted patriotic and Porsche-themed designs alongside vintage race-car illustrations featuring landmarks and dramatic backgrounds.

Reacting to the similarities, the X user criticized the event’s marketing team and wrote, “I’m crying there’s not a single original idea in that marketing team.” The post had received more than 430,000 views at the time of writing, with several users joining the discussion.

The comparisons sparked further criticism and speculation among X users. One commenter called the White House the “copy and paste administration.”

Another claimed, “It’s all AI-generated lol. It’s the closest they can be to creative without having to acknowledge artists who don’t agree with them.” A third user also alleged, “Of course they copy posters of other races with AI.”

Fact Check: The claim is misleading

The claim is misleading.

The rumor appears to exaggerate the available evidence rather than make a clear factual claim. Some Freedom 250 promotional graphics closely resemble earlier racing designs, but there is no proof that the White House deliberately copied or plagiarized the artwork.

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix was a real NTT INDYCAR SERIES street race held on August 22–23, 2026, around the National Mall in Washington, DC, as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.

The event received White House support and included free general admission, with IndyCar and Penske-related groups among its partners.

Porsche Motorsport also has a long history of creating its own promotional race posters, including artwork for Daytona and other IMSA events. Retro and Art Deco-style racing posters are also common in motorsport and often appear in promotional material for anniversary events.

Similar vintage-style Freedom 250 artwork has also appeared in fan-made and reprint designs online.
