Fact Check: Did Trump post Slipknot’s ‘Psychosocial’ video on social media?
WASHINGTON, DC: A rumor has been circulating on social media platforms claiming that President Donald Trump posted the ‘Psychosocial’ video song by the Slipknot band on his Truth Social handle, sparking mixed reactions from online users.
Let us analyse Trump’s social media platform and fact-check whether the president actually posted the video.
Claim: Donald Trump posted a video of ‘Psychosocial’ by Slipknot
The claim surfaced in the form of an alleged screen recording showing a Truth Social post by the president from his official account. The alleged post shows a clip from the popular music video by the heavy metal band Slipknot.
Critics are questioning the timing of the purported post amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions, as the clip features an attention-grabbing image, an aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic elements.
Many of the comments under the post are condemning the president for allegedly uploading the music video, indicating that they believe the post to be true. Some users are sharing the post, accusing the president of insanity.
Fact Check: Donald Trump did not post it
However, a look at Trump's official Truth Social handle reveals that he never posted the video. A search on Trump's commentary account on X, which archives all his Truth Social posts, also does not show any results matching the video.
A fact by Grok also confirmed this, stating, “Yes, it's fake. That's the official Slipknot 'Psychosocial' music video with an edited Trump Truth Social header slapped on top. No record of it on his actual account, and zero news coverage confirms he posted anything like this today. Classic fake edit.”
'Psychosocial' release and recognition
'Psychosocial' is a song by the American heavy metal band Slipknot, which came out as the second single from their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone, in 2008.
The song first got airplay on June 26, 2008. Although it was set for digital release on July 1, it was delayed and officially released on July 7.
Slipknot played the song live for the first time on July 9, 2008, at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington.
The song was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 51st Grammy Awards but lost to Metallica’s 'My Apocalypse.' It was also nominated for Best Single at the Kerrang! Awards.
