Fact Check: Did Trump put Jeanine Pirro on notice and is considering removing her as US Attorney?

WASHINGTON, DC: A claim has been circulating on social media platforms that President Donald Trump is considering removing Jeanine Pirro as the US Attorney for the District of Columbia and has put her on notice over dropping charges against the vandals who allegedly damaged the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The claim has sparked criticism and concerns, with many calling for a fact-check.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trump has put Pirro on notice and is seriously considering removing her as US Attorney for "folding" and dropping the charges against the vandals who allegedly damaged the Reflecting Pool.

“They have a ton of money and the best lawyers Antifa can afford,” the president allegedly said. “She got scared and gave up.” 

“I need someone willing to do the hard work to get the job done. Maybe she’s gone back to drinking. Who knows,” he allegedly added.  

The claim has sparked mixed reactions among online users, with many appearing to condemn Trump’s actions while others expressed support for him, indicating that they believe the claim to be true.

Meanwhile, a few others remained skeptical and questioned the claim’s authenticity, prompting a fact-check of the claim.

Fact Check: No credible evidence to support the claim

Although Trump did criticize Pirro over the decision to drop the Reflecting Pool vandalism case against a former Olympian, there are no reports of the president considering removing her or making the above statements against Pirro.

A search on Google yielded no credible reports by prominent news media outlets that support the claim, which, if true will not go unreported.

There are also no official statements, remarks, or announcements from the White House or the president suggesting that the former Fox News host has been put on a notice period.

Additionally, the X account that posted the claim is not credible, and though not explicitly a parody account, it has posted several such exaggerated and false claims, likely intended as satire.

Trump's criticism of Jeanine Pirro

The claim surfaced as Trump has repeatedly criticized Pirro over the decision to drop the Reflecting Pool vandalism charges against former Olympian David Hearn.  

Last week, he said that Pirro had "choked" and "folded like an umbrella," and the following day, when asked whether her job was safe, he told reporters, “I haven't made a determination.”

In a social media post earlier this month, he wrote, “I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro, the US Attorney for the District of Columbia, on the Reflecting Pool. I don't know what she was thinking."
