WASHINGTON, DC: Amid the renewed conflict between the United States and Iran, which has led to the death of American soldiers, a screenshot began circulating on social media platforms claiming to show a post by President Donald Trump, saying Iran is begging him to unleash the beast on them. The claim has sparked speculation, with many asking for a fact-check.
Claim: Donald Trump said Iran begged him to attack them
The claim surfaced as a screenshot, purportedly showing a post by Trump on his official Truth Social account.
The purported post states, “Iran is begging me to Unleash the Beast at them, I have been Extremely lean, but they're leaving me NO Choice other than to Completely DESTROY them now.”
While many in the comments appeared to believe the post to be real, a few others called it fake, prompting a fact-check.
Fact Check: Donald Trump made no such post
The post, however, is fake, as Trump made no such post on his social media as of this writing. A search on his Truth Social account for the post yielded no results, as no such post was made on July 19 - the date mentioned in the screenshot.
A search on his other social media accounts, such as X and his commentary accounts that automatically archive all his Truth Social posts, also showed no results.
A further Google search to see whether he had made any similar comments confirmed that the president made no such remark outside the social media post. If the post was true, credible news media outlets would have made sure to report it.
Moreover, the screenshot was posted by a satire account called ‘Parody Jeff’ which describes itself in the bio as a ‘saitre’ account.
A fact check by Grok stated, “No, this is not a real post by Trump. It's a fabricated image (green text-bubble style, not matching Truth Social or X formatting) created as satire. The account that posted it openly describes itself as a parody/satire account. No record of Trump posting this on Truth Social, X, or anywhere official.”
Donald Trump ordered to 'open the gates of hell' on Iran
The screenshot surfaced after Trump instructed CENTCOM to "open the gates of hell" following the attack that killed American personnel. Another US official added that the latest operation would be "much more extensive and larger than previous nights."
"The strikes are designed to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan last night," CENTCOM said in a statement.
